Watching Star Wars Episode 1 as a tween and not understanding the bullhorn racism in some of the alien caricatures. Never mind the greater zeitgeist of casual racism against Muslims thanks to the "war on" terror and the casual homophobia.

I had a legit shinji-screm moment when the I learned about Watto. Same day somebody shared the anti-US 60 minutes interview, talk about whiplash.
