Couldn't possibly help with preventing sexual harassment either.

Edit: people seem to be interpreting my comment as transphobic, it's not so calm your tits please.

You know what would help a lot more?

Having actual walls and doors for the toilets and not pathetic incomplete partitions with gaps large enough you can accidentally see who's shitting.

[–] FuckFascism@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago

Yes you're probably right on that account.

The only sexual harassment that I hear about in restrooms are either trans people being harassed or cisgender people being accused of being trans. Both of these problems go away when you have desegregated restrooms.

Unfortunately I'm not so confident those problems would disappear, conservatives have a tendency to only follow the laws they like.

[–] zarkanian@sh.itjust.works 1 points 6 days ago

Sure, but they're more likely to harass you if the law is on their side. If we only made laws that everybody would follow, then there would be no laws.

You aren't a victim when someone you don't like uses the bathroom

Grass is green.

Yeah man, because it's definitely the trans kid doing the pee-pee dance and not the officer snapping coochie picks for "safety" we should be worrying about.

When did I say anything about transgender people?

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 1 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago) (1 children)

I think they were talking about coed bathrooms, not about letting trans people pick the bathroom that matches their gender.

I personally agree that coed bathrooms would likely result in more sexual harassment/assaults.

[–] Mist101@lemmy.world 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's the same argument from a different false equivalency. Co-ed bathrooms exist all around the world. The fact that uncle Jim can't stop fantasizing about watching someone pee shouldn't stop other men from using the public restroom.

It's called the Internet Jim. Look it up.
