Well in fairness men's fashion is essentially t-shirt or suit & tie. There really isn't the equivalent of what women get, that's why all the fashion designers make dresses, because men don't get any effort put into their fashion.
What is the male equivalent of dress shopping?
T-shirt is fairly versatile but men's fashion is not that limited.
I mean, that's really not true. Just look at the various male fashion advice communities, streetwear culture, etc. There's a huge variety in different styles of shirts, outerwear, layering, footwear, accessories, and pants. Hell, even t-shirts and denim have a huge variety in style and quality.
There's massive cultural pressure for women to be fashionable and wear the "right" clothes, a pressure men by and large don't have to deal with. Companies are one of the primary drivers of this pressure by manipulative marketing practices that that convince many women that they need the latest trends and fashions to be keep up.
All of it is bullshit meant to keep people spending money, ultimately. Fashion should be a form of personal expression and personality and by no means requires purchasing new clothing all of the time.
I totally agree that women get a lot more variety but there’s still all kinds of stuff we can do in between. Button up shirts with nice patterns are a huge way to bridge the gap, and you can tuck them in or not and even just leave them open with a t-shirt underneath. Wearing good glasses is important, and frankly we should just pretend those plain black rectangle ones don’t exist because they’re always the worst option. Head to a place like Zenni and it doesn’t have to be expensive(those expensive glasses are a racket).
I got a pair of black stud earrings a while ago and people were like “goddamn”. I know that’s a little more difficult, but it was a small and not too flashy change that made a big difference. A good haircut is also easy to get since you’re already going to the barber anyway, and I discovered beard brushes a while back which straighten out even very short beards and keep everything looking sharp.
There’s a LOT we can do even though we’re kinda limited in many other ways.
I know a guy who encountered this problem and answered it by wearing suits every day.
Diverse well fitting shirts and non-cargo pants from other materials than denim. More adventurous men can dive into different kinds of tunics, sweaters and such, can have accessories like neckerchieves and scarves, nice bags, footwear. You can play with colors and patterns... Men can have some fun with clothes too.
