Hell, it wouldn’t surprise me if encouraging leftists to go out and buy guns to kill politicians is straight out of the COINTELPRO playbook

Americans love the idea of having someone else do their dirty work for free. So the endless "Why won't anyone shoot more Republicans? I guess they're all pussies" carping is less about the actual state of American politics and much more about people on the Internet wanting a new thing to jerk off to.

I don't know how you distinguish this from regular old Alex Jones tier bullshit.
