Calvin and Hobbes
Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.
Calvin and Hobbes is a daily American comic strip created by cartoonist Bill Watterson that was syndicated from November 18, 1985, to December 31, 1995. Commonly cited as "the last great newspaper comic",[2][3][4] Calvin and Hobbes has enjoyed broad and enduring popularity, influence, and academic and philosophical interest… Read more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calvin_and_Hobbes

I always try to figure out if one of the comics has undeniable proof that Hobbes exists and isn't imaginary. Like what does this scene look like with Calvin all by himself? I thought for sure this was going to be a smoking gun because how is he going to take a Polaroid of himself with both hands in the picture.
Well after looking at 1980s Polaroid cameras, most of them seem to have a self-timer. The Polaroid Spectra from 1986 has a self-timer and it's hard to see exactly what Hobbes is holding, but it's close enough to this.
Edit: Hobbs corrected to Hobbes.
Still nearly impossible to catch the exact split-second of the sneeze. What if the picture, or its contents, is as imaginary as Hobbes? Perhaps even the camera is.
Hobbesology is, indeed, a tricky science.
There was the story arc where Calvin decides that he wants to be an escape artist and at his request, Hobbes ties him in a chair. Hobbes can't figure out how to untie him, and it's dinner time. Calvin's dad has to come up and asks him how he managed to tie himself up, and Calvin keeps insisting that Hobbes did it.
It'd also be pretty hard to have the "football" comics where Hobbes is kicking the ball and Calvin is receiving work if Hobbes couldn't kick a ball. I guess Calvin could technically be imagining everything, the whole game, but then it's not just Hobbes that'd be at stake any more.
Hobbes :)
Yep, you are right, don't know what I was thinking.
