What's with all the British and English flags everywhere all of a sudden? (feddit.uk)

Been out today and immediately noticed our local mini roundabouts with red crosses painted on them and nearly every motorway bridge with either a union flag or a flag of St George fixed them. It's like they've just appeared overnight? What's suddenly brought this on?

I heard, I can't remember where, that ALL flags of any kind where being removed in certain places due to then being a health and safety risk.

Of course you can guess who jumped on the story and twisted it for their own means.

EDIT: Also, today I drove along the M25, junction 2 to the M3 and almost every bridge had a flag for each direction.

I did a similar journey. Half of the union flags were upside down.
Maybe that's why St George's is so popular? Nobody knows if you do it wrong.
