Google suggests Inland Empire.

Southern California's Inland Empire (IE), comprised of San Bernardino and Riverside Counties, is one of the fastest-growing population centers in the United States, located about 40 miles east of Los Angeles.

Yeah, IE (inland empire) is the inland side of socal, not covered from the central valley down

Very common to say IE in inland empire or the LA basin, but guess its not well known elswhere in the state
