Just saying, even among republican voters, nobody really cares about same sex marriage anymore in the US.

Right, but just remember the key Republican value of "Cruelty is the point"... and also that gay people are a out-group and therefore are are safe to persecute.

They've come for the illegal (and legal) immigrants, they've moved on to persecuting the trade unionists, and now they're lining up the next shot.
