Your mistake is thinking it has to be good vs bad. Star Wars is bad vs worse.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago (1 children)

this is what leads you to disregard harm reduction.

yes, it's bad vs. worse.

which would you prefer given the choice? oh sure you can talk about abstaining your vote for higher principles, but that simply enables worse.

this isn't rocket science, either. this could have been a lot better but NAH you gotta be ideologically pure so here we are.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Neither.

Harm reduction is fighting for a 3rd option.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

WHICH ENABLES THE WORST OPTION TO SUCCEED.

You can ignore all the replies saying the same thing. You can sit in your little room and tell yourself that none of these bad things are because of your stupidity, you can tell yourself whatever you want. You gave trump what trump needed to win. Feckless fucking apathy wrapped in "principles".

Great work. The third option turned out to be WORTHLESS when it comes to saving Gaza, WORTHLESS when it comes to defending women's rights, lgbtq rights, ENTIRELY WORTHLESS, fucking great work bud, outstanding. You must be proud.

Okay shitlib, keep advocating for harm.

Oh and for future reference I’m not American and Star Wars isn’t set in America either.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

truth hurts, chudly. you should realize it though and learn instead of ignoring the premise and harms you cause.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Ironic considering the harm you cause everyday by defending the status quo.

But hey fuck minorities who have been suffering for centuries under such a system, you could tolerate them dying at the rates they did. Its only when Trump comes along and you personally get to experience the real America that you give a fuck.

The truth does hurt, which is why shitlibs pretend the lesser evil isn’t someone else’s pure evil as they die from an easily preventable means.

[–] mojofrododojo@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

pfft, don't try to tell me you care about anyone else but yourself chudly. so you're getting what you wanted in gaza huh? you say you care about the minorities suffering for centuries but enabled an outright racist who's unleashed bibi to rape gaza.

I guess I'd rather be a shitty liberal than whatever wretched garbage you are.

chud

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Nothing at all has changed in Gaza and nothing was going to once Biden/Harris made it clear they value Zionist lobbying money over the bare minimum of human decency.

68,000 Americans died each year from lack of healthcare and 183,000 Americans die each year from poverty. Every time you voted to keep things the same, you took part of the blame for those ~250,000 deaths each year.

And let's not forget all those foreigners you don't even give a shit about that die from American foreign policy. But why would a liberal care about non-Americans.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

What have you done to lessen the harm done? What was your contribution to the current situation?

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Tried to convince the more rationale right wingers (Liberals) to stop supporting murdering innocent people.

Sadly the cognitive dissonance that the status quo already causes death and injustice daily for millions is too much and they retreat back into their belief that they’re doing the right thing backing the USSR over the Nazis (lesser of two evils, right! - and before you unironically say yes ask the Polish or any other victim).

I’m not American, so I can’t do much else.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

You did nothing. Don’t break your arm jerking yourself off, there, hero.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

And it's still more than you ever will.

Enjoy Trump, you let him get into power by defending a broken status quo.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Or break it, I guess.

Truly the Jedi's greatest moral failure was defending a ten thousand year old galactic democracy and not killing all of their political enemies as vanguards of the Revolution to enforce their religious and very, very specifically non-economic standards on the population.

This makes them innately evil.

(And for allowing droid slavery)

[–] TheBeege@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I think you have a philosophical issue, friend.

There is nothing in reality that is purely "Good." Everything is flawed or is a compromise or has some kind of selfishness hidden somewhere.

But that's why we say "Perfect is the enemy of good." That's why there's "Good enough."

Now, I understand you'll argue "the republic wasn't even good!" My point still stands. The empire was a dictatorship. The republic was a representative democracy. It is exceedingly rare that a dictatorship benefits the people. The only example I know of in the modern day is Singapore. (Thailand is complicated.)

At its core, the empire deprives its citizens of their rights. No one can hold the emperor accountable. He can just blow up a whole planet because he feels like it. Yes, you'll argue the republic can blow up planets, too, but that requires the input of many more people and would represent a significant portion of the populations interests.

Shit, the empire doesn't even rely on the citizenry for its military force, meaning it's even more disconnected from the needs of its citizens.

[–] Deceptichum@quokk.au 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

And I think you have a false dichotomy issue, pal.

And what? The Empire uses storm troopers, citizens who have applied. The Republic used clones, babies bred to die in service of the state.

Both are indefensible shit options.
