What's the ratio of innocents to guilty people you'd like to see killed to satisfy your need for revenge, then?
Dropping the bombs was verifiably not about beating Japan or saving american lives. It was purely to stop the Soviets from joining the Pacific theater, so they wouldn't get their seat at the peace negotiations.
The Japanese military were monsters, and many civilians were on board with it. It is still wrong to bomb civilians. And that's what this was, there wasn't even a pretext of this being about military targets.
And I've seen the images you're talking about. I also know of the rape of Nanjing, and the experiments done by unit 731. I know of the institutionalized rape, slavery, and mass murder committed by Japan. None of this makes me want to justify mass murder of civilians in response. The perpetrators can rot in the deepest pits of whatever hell is worst, but collective punishment, especially of civilians, is never justifiable.
Truly the Allies should have just taken a million casualties while killing many, many more Japanese than the bombs did in the invasion.
I am smart and have read thousands of pages of commentary and history on this exact historical situation to form my opinion.
No, that's quite literally not true.
Sure, whatever you say
Your insight, breadth of knowledge, and reading comprehension astound.
Murder of civilians and collective punishment, lmao.
Thank you. I am smart and have read thousands of pages of commentary and history.
Sure fam, that's why you could figure out why a nation "on the verge of surrender" tried to call America's bluff on the second bomb, even though they were given a three day gap to come to terms with reality, and even then they still had an attempted military coup to prevent the "loss of honor."
Must be because they cared so much about the Soviet advance and the near total destruction of their navy and air force, right? Can't possibly be that a small group of revisionist academics were wrong about one analysis meant more to discourage further atomic bomb usage than reaching an honest conclusion.
That or you just think Allied soldiers were subhumans whose lives mattered less than those of a determined and almost entirely fascist population.
All your questions are answered in the video I linked. Watch it, and don't bother me with your genocidal fantasies, please.
Nah. I'm fully aware of the arguments behind the revisionist coward's mindset, and I've read the primaries.
If the fascists come for you in your lifetime, feel free to refuse to shoot back because it's collectively punishing them. They're just following orders!
