I know someone who lives in a really old house, way over 100 years old. Her neighbour (same age house) was digging around the front yard at night. So we went out to see what was going on, along with a lot of people in the street. At one point they had a small digger and a big light and were digging up the front yard. Turns out her sewer was clogged and due to rain overflowing inside the house. So a crew came out to figure out what was going on and fix it. Which required digging out the ancient sewer pipes in the front yard.
When they broke open the pipe to figure out why it was blocked, it was completely full of used tampons. This woman had been throwing her tampons in the toilet for years and figured that was just the normal thing to do. Now this is bad in a house with modern plumbing, as we all know. But in a house with ancient plumbing, I don't know what she was thinking. Having the entire street see what she did was probably punishment enough (plus the cost of the crew to come out and fix it). She won't be making that mistake again.
oof that would be so ultra embarrassing holy cow.
I caught my ex girlfriend pouring grease down the sink of her rental and she had never heard that you weren't supposed to do that and she owned her own house for years. I dunno how you get that far without anyone correcting you but i guess stuff just slips through the cracks sometimes.
This is the first I'm hearing this ๐ฌ
