It's his wife and she has a hearing coming up. They failed to provide any documentation showing that they lived together after getting married. This is standard stuff, had to do this with my wife.
So yeah, the text is a lie.
No, it's him who is being threatened with deportation. It is due to not showing any evidence of living together though.

That's a separate issue, nothing to do with his wife possibly being denied her green card renewal.
Thanks for the clarification. I read that and thought...hmmm.. Sounds a bit too on the nose to be true. Turns out my instinct was correct. Lol
