americas only option left now is riots. protests aren't working, the elites don't care unless their lives are threatened. it's sad but true. this isn't going to change or go away with hand holding. history has proven the only way to remove fascist regimes is violence. that's the truth. fascist don't care for your vote, they don't care about you, they will and are taking all your rights and voices away to maintain power and control. this is 1000% happening in the US right now. right this second. this isn't a warning of what could happen, it's literally happening. and there's only 1 way out now. and it's not pretty.

we've protested in one location, but we haven't protested in a bunch of locations at once at the same time. not one 10000 person protest, but 10 1000 person protests

50501, No Kings protests, Hands Off our Democracy protests… we have done several simultaneous protests across all 50 states at the same time with No Kings having over 5 million protesters nationwide. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Kings_protests

I have slept maybe four hours this month so i'm explaining poorly, but the idea is less "let's have five hundred protests across the united states" and more "let's have five hundred protests across Chicago so it overwhelms the ability of emergency services to respond to the protests, and scale that up proportionally across the united states". I have counted two protests in my county in the last eight months. It has more than ten municipalities.

Ah, now I get it! Very valid and useful idea. Perhaps holding up crosswalks throughout the city? Only takes 2 people to definitely slow traffic and cause a nuisance at each intersection. If this were replicated sporadically throughout the city all at the same time… I can see it.

Not American so take this with a grain of salt: organised civil disobedience is always an option. They can’t force you to work and it hits them right in the wallet, which is all that matters for the ruling class.

Riots should be a very last resort (e.g if they instigate it)

[–] dylanmorgan@slrpnk.net 32 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Riots are loud and obvious. Direct action should also incorporate quiet subtle tactics, like sabotage.

Honestly, one of the most patriotic things someone could do right now would be to sign up for ICE and then deliberately be the most incompetent work-to-rule ICE agent they possibly can. Be a net negative to ICE's operations.

Yes, but if there ever is a reckoning, good luck proving you were one of the good ones

Every major digital platform is marginalizing progressive organization right now, we need a better way to organize

Riots? Lol try full blown civil war of you want to stand any chance now.

I can't tell you how many times I've been banned for saying this over the last four years

[–] misteloct@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm gonna doubt you were banned for the content of that thought. It was probably something else.

[–] Angry_Autist@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Nope, but you sure are an asshole for assuming so

[–] misteloct@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

You just said it and weren't banned unless you're talking about Reddit. Also didn't mean it in bad faith. Could have been misconstrued or tone, or something else.
