Ok but wtf happened to the femur on the top image?

Might be a CT scan slice through the protrusions(epicondyles) of the femur while the knee is bent 90°. So the lenght of the femur is coming out the back of this picture. Or the same posture and angle bit with a normal X-ray. Though I would have expected more density in between the epicondyles. So probably CT

Sounds plausible, but I'm gonna stick with my theory that someone stole the rest of their bones
