It's an old meme, but it checks out.
Knowing a few basic words doesn't mean you "speak a language".
She didn't have the words for "food", "drink" and "surgery", but has the basic words for no and basic times
As you'd expect, one learns "no", "after" and "tomorrow" before words like "surgery"
The nurse doesn't have to speak English, just read it.
