I see it as just establishing / reinforcing the character of this infamous orange man.
Oh shouldn’t that be obvious since 2016?
It should. But from my experience, the human mind isn't always the best at remembering all the facts, so resurfacing those is never a wasted opportunity. You never know who needs the refresher, or simply wasn't already aware.
Also, I didn't know about this one fact. My "Trump is a creep" notion is thus validated and reinforced.
