when i first heard about the male loneliness epidemic i was like oh yeah close camaraderie and bonding between men is often discouraged in favor of competition or, if not discouraged, at least filtered through a lens of individualism that precludes deep connections. and then i learned what people meant by it (men arent getting laid) to which i say skill issue

to all the men out there not getting laid: try less hard to get laid and try more hard to be an enjoyable and relaxing presence

Sucks that men's issues are being treated as a joke or mischaracterized as something else and not important.

I think a big issue is that third places have disappeared or not kept up with culture. All that's near me are bars and Masonic Lodges, younger men are trying to drink less and don't want to wear weird robes to hang out with other guys.

I'm a Freemason, but I haven't been to lodge since one of the guys there went off on a hugely racist rant against Italians. They're just too old, young guys (I'm the youngest by at least 15 years) don't really fit in and it's going to kill Freemasonry.

There seem to be at least some chapters who recognize this and are working on recruiting/retaining young blood, but idk - seems like a hard sell these days.

And this is coming from someone who likes the idea of all the rites and rituals and stuff. Shit just seems to get expensive the further along you go.

I hope that's true, it's a really cool organization with deep roots. I'm also really into the ritual it's super rad I just wish my lodge wasn't so... 😬 You know what I mean?
