its difficult, i haven't reallyconsidered it, but given that Robocop is a satire the rules may in my opinion be bent.
the detroit police are blue collar workers employed by the comically corrupt and incompetent OCP corporation, which directly funds the cartoon criminal gangs that terrorize the police and citizenry of the city. Robocop is a completely unethical experiment intended to replace human workers with automated undead slaves, but his commitment to duty is too strong and he actively battles the unfettered capitalist organizations that seek to control or destroy him.
I agree. Murphy's humanity is what sets him apart from the wishes of OCP, and is ultimately what saves the day.
To me, the whole ACAB thing implies that people have agency and can make moral and ethical choices on the job. Yet we see police do unethical and amoral things given the chance. Murphy is unable to deviate from his programming, yet in the grey areas where he can make a choice, tends to make the right one.
