One who supports the death penalty has great faith in the afterlife of a judgemental God. If there's no eternal punishment, we should administer it here on earth.

While that's ideal, I'd rather they be gone in case the war goes south and he gets released, only to be awarded a medal of honor by Russia for betraying the country.
