the band Thee Oh Sees have a song called "The Daily Heavy." you can check out the song here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YA0dExRdsaQ

(the specific part i am interested in, starts at about one minute in. i have loved this song for years).

a few months back, one of the streaming services recommended a band to me called The Screen Frogs, and it wasn't until today that i did a deep dive into them. listened to their entire collection while working. then toward the end of an album, i hear this song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MVfBvm39glA

there must be a near zero chance that one of these guys stole the idea from the other, right? The Oh Sees are from San Francisco, and were formed in 1997. The Screen Frogs are from Seattle, and formed in 2018. both West Coast, and not hugely far apart. it seems to me that there might be a copyright issue here; am i crazy?

this has been bugging me for hours, and i really just needed someone to listen to me about this! haha!

They're very similar, but I feel like I've also heard that same tune in other songs before, as well. I feel like this may be a "Pachelbel's Canon in D" situation, where the same melody gets reused in countless songs over time.

very well could be, but i am also referring to the end of each line punctuated or emphasized with a “uh-uh” sorta thing.

perhaps i need to just let it go…

thanks for taking the time to respond to me; much appreciated!
