There are still dry counties to this day though. Prohibition didn't completely lose.

Are there? I understand some middle eastern countries are "dry", but not dry. Are there any countries that are actually dry in practice?

Edit: Leaving comment, but I made the mistake of "countries" versus "counties".

No no no, he said dry counties.

There are tons of dry counties in the south. They are never too far away from a wet county though that has an abundance of bars and liquor stores.

Shiet, there's even dry neighborhoods. Years ago I worked at a restaurant where we weren't allowed to sell liquor (beer and wine only) unless the restaurant got a special liquor license designating it as a club. Which came with its own weird restrictions.

I had a family member that worked in UAE. There's at least one shop on every block that has stuff the Americans want in the back.

Granted, it's probably different in Iran or Yemen, but I'm sure you can get alcohol.
