After breaking the larger one open, apparently they were chips that were stuck in their fryer since before Covid, totally burnt and been frying for years it seems, and of course I didn't eat those chunks.

At least the rest of the chips in the bag were okay.

I hear ya, definitely not super WTF material, it was just the first community I thought to post it to. At least it wasn't fried rat parts..
