The official military stance has been that there is nothing wrong with the pistols.

Individual service members at the lowest levels that actually carry the pistols aren't always plugged into online discussions or if they are they are getting official word to ignore it as noise. Given the huge volume of stupid things on the Internet, that attitude on its face isn't unreasonable as a general course of action. Unfortunately the military has also been officially ignoring more credible concerns. As late as July 17th, an FBI report raised concerns about the pistol design but both the Army and Marines put out official statement nitpicking and then dismissing it.

Service pistols are by pretty much any SOP carried chambered. Any deviation from that SOP would officially acknowledge that something is wrong with the pistols.

On the 20th, the Airman died from the holstered pistol. Since then part of the Air Force has officially suspended carrying the pistol, and it seems the floodgates have finally opened on the problem and it's now no longer just "internet noise". I have heard anecdotally of individual commands now pulling the pistols or having them carried unchambered.

Including MPs? It's standard practice for police to carry sidearms with a chambered round. I would guess telling MPs they have to carry unchambered sidearms would be contentious.
