What's the bet they're actually just stepping out of an echo chamber for the first time and can't hack being told their opinions are shit
I mean, depending on which instance they joined they could've just as easily stepped into an even smaller echo chamber. Lemmy as a concept isn't magically free from them.
Lemmy has a ton of echo chambers. It's a real problem.

Yes, but also no. I could have an account on hexbear and still see things from lots of other places. The beauty of federation is that it’s a lot harder to quash dissent from an administrative level.
Maybe only read Local and was a bad fit for the server. You know, any sane server.
