Drinking doesn't excuse shitty behavior or words and if you can't handle that, it means you can't handle the responsibility of drinking. And if you genuinely "can't remember", what you're experiencing is alcohol blackouts which cause brain damage every time they happen. That's not normal for most people who consume alcohol. If that's the case, you have a problem and you're killing yourself slowly.

I really hope this is received positively. My brother in law drank himself to death almost three years ago now. I still miss him every day. Alcohol is a scourge upon humanity.

Sure drinking doesn't excuse shitty behavior, but from a pragmatic point of view the concept of State Conditioned Learning applies, and it won't hurt to take up your issues with drunk them to affect positive change in their behavior. But I don't really know about all of that, because I've had a few beers.
