What is a ruin? We’re running off of “You know it when you see it” at the moment. Ruins should be non-functioning structures of some age, or their function reduced to tourism and the like.
Generally speaking, specific items from a ruin should go to !historyartifacts@lemmy.world
Illustrations of ruins (or their reconstructions) should go to !historyillustrations@lemmy.world
Photos of ruins back when they were functioning should go to !HistoryPorn@lemmy.world

Toured here a few years back, was a amazing day/site!
once you forget about these:
It does look quite nice
360° view from top is wonderfull
I wasn't going to mention the rickety stairs roughly bolted to the side that I had reservations about climbing...
They look like my pics, great day and perfect skies. The approach view are great. We climbed a nearby set of boulders nearby the next morning, we got a nice view of Sigiriya early morning from a elevated distance.
Yeah, I mean by the point we reached the rickety part from pic we were tired (unfortunately I don't have a good pic to show that path to that plato is also made of staircase).
For our tour weather was also great (ignoring the high humidity), from 10 day we had only one downpour and it was in Kandy area (mountains). Unfortunatly with packed schedule of our tour on same day we also saw Polonnaruwa, by the dinner time we were in Bambulla and in the morning we had to be in Peradeniya. When I saw the twin boulder I whished that we had time to visit it I imagine view on King's palace was special.
