Struggling to find a recording of the THX Deepnote in an actual surround sound format. (lemmy.world)

Coworker is building one of the fancier surround sound setups, and mentioned we wished he could find the THX Deepnote in full surround sound. Seemed like a simple enough request, so I did some searching myself, and am only seeing YouTube videos like this one, or .mp3 files, both of which (afaik) only support two audio channels.

Even THX's own website just links to more YouTube videos.

I don't actually know jack about surround sound or audio formats - taking his word and the web articles I've stumbled across all at face value... am I just being stupid about this? Is there somewhere to download the full-quality thing?

That link looks promising - is there a way to see how make audio channels a webpage is trying to use?

Extracting that sound file gives a .m3u8 that links to other sound files on the web, but they give an access denied if I try to visit them individually (which.... how is it playing as a .m3u8 if I don't have access to the individual complements?? /headscratch). At least, I'm assuming each link is separate channel that they all just play in unison?

THX uploads... to YouTube? I that that was limited to only two channels?

For the first bit: look up a SoundCloud downloader. There's a million.

For the YouTube bit: this link explains. You can also use a YouTube downloader to get the high quality sound files that should have the full spectrum of channels. You can confirm it works by hearing the individual sound playing through the speakers, and depending on your desktop, the audio mixer should show the individual channel activity output. There's a million other sound and audio mixers out there as well if the default doesn't do what you want.
