Personally I'm a bit so-so on this. I think he understates how problematic it would be for cyclists and people doing sports at the various fields bordering Sir William Macgregor Drive if there were to be buses there regularly. Especially if that included the big "Metro" vehicles. WMD is a very quiet, low-speed road. It has a speed limit of 30 km/h, and the amount of parking on it is small enough that you don't often come into conflict with cars aiming to park there. It's not never, but it's not very common.

Buses would necessarily increase the volume of traffic immensely. And bus drivers are far more scary than cars. I've been side-swiped and literally run off the road by buses on the times I've had to ride along a street shared with significant bus volumes.

Netballers and kids in the playground near the athletics track regularly have to cross the road to get balls that have gone loose. Increasing the volume of traffic there would reduce the street's amenity significantly. And letting buses through to Chancellor's Place would likely require turning Mill Rd and Slip Rd, currently two quiet dead-end streets with modal filters between them* permitting pedestrians and cyclists but not cars, into a through-road.

Still, in principle the idea of being able to connect the "Metro" through towards Indooroopilly Station, including via Indro SHS, or to improve connectivity along FSD to Toowong and the RE, is a good one. There's definitely something here. I just don't know what the right way to do it is.

* It is possible to drive between them, which was a relief when I did so back during the flood in 2022 when most entrances/exits to the uni from homes nearby were impassable. But it's not allowed and you'd never see it under normal circumstances.
