As a test I'm looking up directions home from work, but despite entering my address the results only return my block. Is there a setting I have to change? I don't see any relevant settings

Sounds more like a map data issue.

  • does the map have all the data? I.e. is your address (street, number, etc) available?

  • can you navigate to your address when selecting from the map?

I have the map for my state downloaded. If I tap on my house from the map it will give directions, but this issue is for all addresses—any address I search for only returns the block at best.

When you tap you house does it display the address or does it just say 'building'?

If it's the latter then like the other comment said the address is sadly not present in the map data and needs to be added first, you could do that yourself by signing up on openstreetmap.org or with an app like StreetComplete

The map is entirely volunteer made so unfortunately your whole area might not have addresses yet

It does just say building, but before tapping it shows my address (and only my address on my block). I'll get back on streetcomplete and start filling out my area

That is very strange. But thank you for your effort!

Oh you can also ask for help on the forum of course, it's quite active https://community.openstreetmap.org/
