Interesting new clothing shop(?) just opened in Bridge Rd Richmond. Called Infinite Apparel. It's sort of a subscription service for clothes. You pay a monthly subscription, and choose clothes from their racks - number of items depends on subscription size - eg $50 per month for 5 items and 1 pair of either shoes or sunglasses. At end of month you drop off or mail back the clothes and pick out new items to take home. They clean them thoroughly and put those items back on the racks for other users. Sort of a circular shared wardrobe.

Clothing quality is very high - natural fibres, well made and in perfect condition. The current stock is clearly skewed to the young adult male - say 20s to 30s who want to look stylish and wear a variety of quality clothing at a cheap price. Most of it is smart casual/casual. I reckon they're targeting office workers with very little closet space and who haven't the space/time/inclination/skills to do maintenance on quality clothing. Colour range is about half office-uniform neutrals, and about half brightly coloured.

If you're a standard size this might actually be a way to dress nicely at a predictable price without getting bored with your current wardrobe. Plus the laundry service of course. Short term business visitors to the city might also find it useful.

I hope they do well.

omg

this reminds me of a pawn shop

I imagine some kind of deposit will be required so people don't just take the clothes

The bloke I spoke with in the shop didn't mention anything like that.
