I've been playing BG3 since I was first able to find a torrent, using the fitgirl repack, and I think I'm going to buy this one. To play online of course, but also to support the devs for making a damn decent game.

Would really like not to lose my progress - think it'll transfer without any problems?

They do. Also you can play the pirated version online, there's no DRM. Good on you for buying it though, it's the kind of game it's good to support

Tbf I will pirate game to try it and if I like it I'll pay for it.

I know why it doesn't work as a business model but of its worth my money I'll give it.

I did this with doom eternal. I remember it was a bit of a pain to go legit after but thankfully someone made a tool and instructions. I think I beat half the game first. Then I bought doom 2016 after that.

I what why they can't bring back the old "shareware" style money where am initial segment or episode of a game is free so people can see what they like. For open world games maybe just have a limited portion of the map.
