(Just to explain, the original title was a tad confusing, which is why the exchange with @aubeynarf@lemmynsfw.com might seem a bit weird.

Sorry for that. I modified the title to clarify it, and so hopefully it does make more sense, even if it now makes the post from aubeynarf look a bit odd (for which I apologise).

Having grown up churchified against my will (the norm), I have always replied "You're right, He doesn't, nope. That's when he takes you. When it's too much to handle.", etc.

They stopped saying it to me, and pretty quickly, IIRC.

Hey, they punished my "insubordinate" questions by making me read alllll the things... So, when I returned, chock fulla facts from their own cherry-picked & smarm-fingered "book", they had no idea what to do, really.

They made me compete in Bible Quiz — where we memorized an entire book of the gospel each semester. No joke, the questions were in the form of "finish the quote", "cite the page number", "cite the first and last verse", etc. It was literally fucking mental. 😱 How would I not come out the other side, a weaponized fact-gatling? Idiots.
