Oh they see. They just plan on being dead, rich, and/or secluded in the only remaining habitable places.
The whole pretending not to believe in it thing is so we don't just kill them beforehand.
I think a lot of people do disbelieve, to some extent.
Its motivated by interest kind of a 'looking away' thing, because they can't deal with the changes they woukd have to make.
No it's not rational, it's not sane, and it's so wildly maladaptive it's already causing extinctions.
But i dont think either of us look directly at it with much depth either. I think anyone who kept the whole breadth and depth and horror of the situation on their mind would very quickly find that mind all over their ceiling or making detailed plans to kill execs/politicians.
Apocalyptic hyperobjects do be like that.
