They are very American things. Chess pie is a very southern American thing, essentially a custard pie with cornmeal added. Whoopie pie is not an actual pie but two small chocolate cakes used as bread and icing in the middle. A bit of stretch to make the category work.The wildest thing about that is that I'm both American and specifically southern.
