United Kingdom
General community for news/discussion in the UK.
Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.
Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Being an old, white, middle class woman shouldn't make you above the law.
Supporting a proscribed group when there are dozens of legit pro Palestine groups is obviously a stupid thing to do.
Tankies feel free to downvote ❤️
The government are now just branding any and all anti-Israel, anti-IDF, pro-palestinian rally or protest as "supporting Palestine Action" and using that to shut it down and arrest people.
Whether or not anyone actually said or did anything in support of that particular organisation.
Whether or not you believe that defining Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation or not, that's a dangerous precedent to set.
"Dangerous" works too, but I prefer "fascist." Authoritarian states are built on legal fictions like these.
No they aren't. Palestine Action is illegal. Because they're terrorists. The rest are fine.
It's also an exercise of her inalienable right to freedom of speech. Welcome to democracy, where the government isn't supposed to be able to make opinions illegal.
There are and have always been limitations to free speech. I can't, for example, threaten to kill someone.
That also applies to supporting proscribed terrorist groups.
Disgusting that you're fine with supporting them.
How does it feel like being a fascist?
The law is so vague that carrying anything mentioning Palestine can now get you arrested for supporting a terrorist group depending on the whim of the arresting officer.
This is an attack on the right of protest pure and simple. You should be alarmed that protests that those in power don't agree with can be labelled terrorism and banned. This is straight from the Russian playbook.
You're the daftest alive if you think spray painting a slogan makes you a terrorist organization.
And you're even dafter if you think you deserve punishment for protesting unjust laws. Like literally you should go back and retake all of high school and middle school because you learned absolutely jack.
I'm sorry that you're a terrorist-supporting idiot.
Why do you want British people dead so much? Are you an asset for Russia or something? Moron.
Go back to bed gramps
The UK government's ban on Palestine Action is a "disturbing" misuse of counter-terrorism legislation, the United Nations' human rights chief has warned.
Not all laws are just by nature of being laws.
