You brought up Christ before I responded to that. I know you're off your meds but do try to keep track.

You started by asking when capitalism has cause death outside of war and have been going off on tangents ever since.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

You brought up Christ before I responded to that.

An expletive, not an argument. Jesus fucking Christ.

I know you’re off your meds but do try to keep track.

Cute. What does it say about you that you're unable to keep a coherent argument even in comparison to someone with ADHD off their meds?

You started by asking when capitalism has cause death outside of war

Fucking what.

Go ahead. Quote me saying that.

(Protip: you can't, because you've done nothing but spew utter bullshit with no relation to reality from the start)

and have been going off on tangents ever since.

Your FIRST REPLY to me was a claim that extreme poverty, starvation, and homelessness did not predate capitalism, which I responded to by first claiming, and then demonstrating, that such a claim is utterly absurd and in complete contradiction to actual history facts.

What 'tangent' did I go off on in continuously disputing that despite your continued defense of that utter bullshit claim?

... when was the last time capitalism led to mass starvation and death? Every famine I'm aware of since 1950 has been the cause of either war, recurring environmental issues that have resulted in famines across multiple economic systems, or government mismanagement.

You were saying?

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

I asked when the last time was that capitalism led to mass starvation and death, and, in line with that, pointed out that no famines since at least 1950 have been caused by capitalism, pointing out the mechanisms that have caused every major famine since. Sorry that your literacy is as poor as your reasoning?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world -1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No, but your's sure seems to be. I gave you a study that shows that capitalism is leading to mass starvation every single year. I didn't even find the one that I like to use that shows that capitalism averaged 20 million deaths due to starvation alone every single year of the 20th century.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I didn’t even find the one that I like to use that shows that capitalism averaged 20 million deaths due to starvation alone every single year of the 20th century.

Claiming that 2 billion people died of capitalist-caused starvation in the 20th century when not even 200 million total actually died of starvation, including the famines in the PRC and USSR, in the 20th century?

Yeah, that's about the level of academic rigor I'd expect from your sources at this point.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Source? You have spouted all sorts of pro capitalist bullshit and sourced none of it.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Source?

https://www.ids.ac.uk/download.php?file=files%2Fdmfile%2Fwp105.pdf

But please tell me more about how capitalism killed an order of magnitude more people through starvation in the 20th century than died through starvation in total.

You have spouted all sorts of pro capitalist bullshit and sourced none of it.

"Pro-capitalist bullshit is when you think starvation, homelessness, and extreme poverty predate capitalism just because societies that predate capitalism had starvation, homelessness, and extreme poverty; or when you think the 'cycle of capitalism' in the modern day has nothing to do with mass death through starvation just because capitalist countries in the modern day go through this dogshit cycle but still don't experience mass starvation"

Yes, what a radical pro-capitalist I am, you really caught me.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Your source is discussing famine specifically, not starvation overall. It even touches on this while talking about economic entitlements in one of the middle sections. It does seem to be true that many fewer people died of famine than starvation in general because of capitalist failures of distribution.

Try again.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Jesus fucking Christ, you didn't even read the section you claimed to. Did you just see 'economic entitlement' and decide to make up what you wanted it to say in your head?

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I read the entire paper. Sorry I used the wording in the paper to make a point about what the paper doesn't talk about.

That section was discussing how the four economic factors are compounded by famine and can contribute to famine.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

I read the entire paper.

In five minutes, you read some 8,000 words.

lmao.

You're not even trying to be believable.

Sorry I used the wording in the paper to make a point about what the paper doesn’t talk about.

Yes, I'm also sorry that you're trying to use the wording in the paper to make implications that are not only not addressed by the paper, but directly contradicted in places.

That section was discussing how the four economic factors are compounded by famine and can contribute to famine.

Jesus Christ. You didn't even skim it.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh, and my first reply was a study that shows that capitalism directly starves 9 million people a year.

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The study you cited is claiming capitalism directly starves 9 million people a year because starvation did not exist before capitalism - a claim which is demonstrably untrue.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

Then you didn't read the full study, and don't understand the terms extreme poverty and extreme wealth.

He would understand the terms

[–] PugJesus@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He would understand the terms

Curious, because according to you and that paper, he lived in a non-capitalist society which, therefore, should not have any concept of those terms.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago

According to popular culture he was a part of an all knowing being. I would hope an all knowing being would know more than the humans 2000 years ago did.
