Just one of the many reasons we aren't really a red state as much as a non voting state.
There’s really no reason to sit out the vote. Senators, governor, president, and many other ballot items are state-wide and have nothing to do with gerrymandering.
Gerrymandering is just one element in voter suppression. Ids, busy ballot locations, and others also discourage would be voters.
Yeah you hear people say this a lot but it just doesn't ever match up when it comes to Statewide and National races that have nothing to do with gerrymandering. In 2022 Republicans won Statewide Races by almost 10 points across the board. Ted Cruz wiped the floor with the Allred in the latest Senatorial race. Maybe we'd be a Bluer state if we didn't have the most incompetent Democratic State party in the nation.
also Tactical Voting is a thing i have voted Republican in every primarily and voted Democratic in every general since i got to Texas.
