I wish more folks would pay attention to what is happening in Ecuador. The vast majority of the population don’t deserve any of this.

And of course the real driver of all this is people up in the global north (UK/EU/USA/etc) treating cocaine as a party drug that has only grown in popularity despite all the health and addiction concerns.

Meanwhile the very real and tragic consequences are that global narco gangs have more money and power than local governments. Ecuador used to be a nice place to live just a few years ago. Now you can’t go out in the streets at night.
