Fucking stop with the bullshit messaging that doing a Jan 6 is bad.
Doing a Jan 6 for the reasons it was done is bad, and if you want your country back, you’re going to have to do much more than a Jan 6.
Jan 6 is characterized as a bunch of dumbfucks attempting to violently stop the peaceful transition of power after a legitimate election because they listened to the lies of a convicted felon and adjudicated rapist.
So yes, a Jan 6 is bad.
Is overturning an actually corrupt/authoritarian government a bad thing? Hell no. But that's not what Jan 6 was.
Idk why you're getting downvoted. This is unironnically Lemmy's take. Violence is okay as long as it's Your Team© and not Enemy Team®.
Our Leopards are Different
Your comment probably sounds really bright to moral relativists.
Not a Jan 6, more like a Revolution of Dignity.
Jan 6 was against the constitution. The current regime is anti-constitution. The Jan 6 people and the current administration are committing treason. Section 3 of the 14th amendment means the current adminitration is illegitimate. In contrast, getting rid of the current administration would actully be patriotic since we would be restoring the constitutional order. And therefore, this should not be categorized as a "Jan 6".
This is my point.
Everyone I see on Lemmy/Bluesky, etc. only seems to be able to express outrage at the action itself, not its intended outcome.
