Community rules:

Be respectful and civil with each other. Don't be a jerk. There is a real human being on the other side of your screen. See also the Blahaj.Zone Community Rules

No bigotry of any kind allowed. Making racist, sexist, trans-/homo-/queerphobic, otherwise demeaning and hateful comments is not ok. Disabilities and mental illnesses are not to be used as insults and should not be part of your comment unless speaking of your own or absolutely relevant.

No gatekeeping and being rude to people who don't agree with you. Leave “gamer” stereotypes out of your comment (e.g. sexless, neck bearded, teenaged, basement-dwelling, etc). Don't compare people to animals, or otherwise deny their humanity. Even if you think someone is the worst human on the planet, do not wish death or harm upon them.

No "justice porn". Posts regarding legal action and similar is allowed, but celebrating someone being harmed is not.

Contrarianism for its own sake is unnecessary and not welcome.

No planning operations, no brigading, no doxxing or similar activities allowed.

Absolutely no defense of GamerGate and other right-wing harassment campaigns, no TERFs and transphobia, racism, dismissing of war crimes and praise of fascists. The organization behind Steam's latest payment processor censorship, Collective Shout, appears to tell some misleading tales.

The original was taken down (see below), archived version: https://archive.is/x5cGQ

Edit: As per Ana Valens, writer of the article, it was taken down by the current owners of Vice.com for transparently bogus reasons. The archived version is now the only one available.

"Cultivation theory" is a bogus term, also please note that a lot of pseudo-secular rape crisis centers are being operated by the same exact christofascists, that want to ban all porn. The anti-porn people are tactically using more "problematic" fetishes as a wedge-issue. Just like "appropriation of womanhood" is being used as a wedge-issue. Just like "we need an apolitical atheist movement, to appeal to both sides, to normalize atheism on the right, and to dismiss associations with far-left regimes of both present and past" was successfully used as a wedge issue against online atheists.

Perhaps you could tell me why you really want this extreme content on the steam store so I don't misunderstand you, because I am currently extremely unsympathetic towards your comment. I don't see this as atheism vs religion and right vs left. Or that this is supposed to divide whatever your political party is. This is more of how extreme violence towards women and other vulnerable populations have been normalized in media (video games, film, etc.). This content makes me sick to my stomach, I'm not sure if you've seen it but it is extremely graphic and before this month was completely allowed on steam. I wanted steam to put their foot down instead of payment processors. I am relieved these games are being removed, of course my disappointment in valve is unchanged since they didn't care to do this themselves.
