Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Reading these comments you would think he hates trans people. Instead, he said:
On the topic girls playing sports against genetic males.
That's a red herring. Also, the science doesn't match the fear. Anyone on hormonal blockers to transition to female no longer has a biological advantage.
It's the same old racist, sexist, other-ist argument disguised as fairness.
If that were true, then there would be no controversy whatsoever.
However, this is the rare case where facts don’t have a liberal bias.
Transgender women are setting a disproportionate number of new world records in women’s athletics.
Sports should have two categories: “open” and “female”
https://economist.com/leaders/2022/03/19/sports-should-have-two-categories-open-and-female from The Economist
This is a great wedge issue for conservatives to split liberals.
Care to point us to some sources saying they're breaking world records? I'm having trouble corroborating that.
I included a link
You linked an opinion piece that cited no sources.
It is The Economist. Are you holding out for a more reputable publication?
It's opinion. Not journalism. It's in its own section for a reason.
I was holding out for a link containing evidence to support your claim that "transgender women are setting a disproportionate number of new world records in women’s athletics."
If that were actually happening, then I'm sure a publication as reputable as the Economist would simply present those facts.
It's paywalled
I can't read all of the article because it's behind a paywall or whatever, but I would suggest reading some stuff by Erin Reed (Erin in the Morning), specifically this piece which is relevant to your claim. (Note the article was written by a guest and not Erin herself, if you want to)
As with anything that loud transphobes like to scream about, it's wildly exaggerated. Unfortunately, because they're so loud, most people see the exaggeration as truth.
I would also look into this study/literature review. It's been a while since I've read it, and it's late here, so I can't attest to how good of a study it is. However, the authors do conclude that there's no real evidence of trans women having any considerable advantage over cis women.
Brother, there are purple who sincerely believe that the earth is flat. Truth does not prevent controversy.
Because bigots would never just make shit up.
How is it any less fair than high school kids playing against someone who's being scouted for professional sports? Do you think it was more fair for high school boys to play against LeBron James before he was drafted into the NBA? The entire argument is bullshit and framed just so to give bigots cover for their bigotry.
If you want fairness in high-school sports, force everyone be ranked based on their skill level not their gender because that's what wins games not a dick and balls.
So he doesn't hate trans people, he just wants to inspect every child athlete's genitals to make sure they're in the right locker room. Whew, that's a relief.
Ceding the framing to the Nazi position for political expediency isn't much better.
I'm sure preventing medical care for trans kids will make things much fairer. As in, they will just fucking die and the cises won't have to worry about inclusion anymore.
And when it comes right down to it, we're talking about games.
Thank you for the republican/centrist democrat talking point.
