I bought my iPhone outright but I wait for a deal (ozbargain is a great resource) and I have my phone for 3 - 4 years before I upgrade. I use it all the time. It’s worth the splurge for Apple for me. But I agree with pricing, everytime I upgrade the outright price has gone up a fair bit.

I've had my Samsung almost 4 years so I hear you about keeping a phone for a while.

IPhones seem to hold their value a hell of a lot more than Samsung's do.
