Sucks about the apparently islamophobic undertones of some individuals/factions, but pretty badass aside from that

There's nothing apparent about it. In many cases, it's exactly what it seems.

Vigilantism is a huge problem in South Asia. So many people have been harmed or killed out of ignorance and hate. With the BJP in control, Hindu on Muslim violence has increased significantly.

This issue specifically has been used on the regular to attack and kill Muslims while police turn a blind eye or enable it.

Disclaimer. I only got about 15% through the article before I had to quit.

I think the motivation for most of these folks is their own religion rather than other's religions. I'd bet money that the majority of them have little to no problem with Muslims who don't consume beef or dairy

I honestly wish it were that simple. But then I think about the numerous times mobs killed people over alleged beef consumption only for testing to reveal that the meat was mutton. Worse still is when mere rumors are started leading to beatings and death.

Regardless of beliefs, Hindustan has been rife with deep seeded racism and religious hate. The corruption of local authorities and leaders means justice rarely prevails. And of course, the corruption and enabling of violence goes all the way to the top.

Trust me. Don't make such a bet.

South Asia is complicated. A lot of people from various casts, religions, gender, and status suffer incredibly. Mob mentality, extrajudicial violence, vigilantism, gangs, and deep seeded corruption leave hundreds of millions hurting. The current government Hindu nationalism is only making things worse.

I still have hope. I've seen the goodness local communities and people can embody. There's a lot of work to do though. A lot. But there's hope. The beauty is there. And it can rise up and flourish. Someday.
