He could have just mentioned that garland and Biden had their entire four years to release the files

But then he cannot deflect all the blame from Trump and it would be a both sides story.

Of course. But Republicans cannot get an out by just blaming Democrats here since the arrest and suicide happened under Trump. Of course many Democrats are on the list too so that is never getting released.
