Yeah, it's definitely a bad situation. On the other hand, Barcelona and Real don't have the oil / foreign investors money that PSG, Manchester City, Chelsea can use.
Araujo was a captain for the last season, his errors costing the Champions League finals definitely tainted his image.
I don't think nation states and oligarchs taking over various football adjacent businesses is relevant in this question. In any business environment there will inevitably be some type of unfair competition. You still need to keep your finances on a solid footing and plan ahead accordingly. If you can't afford to pay for a given contract, don't sign it. If you feel the need to get financial backing from dubious sources I would advise Barcelona to start discussions with the PIF. I'm sure the Saudis would gladly drop Newcastle if they can pick up Barcelona instead.
I guess I just prefer to avoid actively hoping for another club's desmise (even Real Madrid) out of spite, but that's me
