I'm not quite sure how โ€˜Envoโ€™ from Canada came up with the idea of having the semi-enclosed vehicle built for the EU by โ€˜Geobikeโ€™ in Poland. But I'm pleased that things are moving forward at all on this topic.

If the price stays below 7500,- EUR, I could well imagine the bike for commuting from autumn to spring, for pensioners, or for families with child trailers.

Sadly the model with doors is no more. That was from the first interation of it. They filed for creditor protection and then ENVO Drive bought the rights and the models they've been making do not have a door option. The pictures you see online for example from the trial at UBC weren't made by ENVO Drive.

If it had doors I'd be buying one for sure. So for now I keep hoping another company will come out with a fully enclosed trike.

Darn, that's disappointing to hear. Oh well.

I suppose it wouldn't be too difficult to add in doors by oneself.

A velomobile would also be cool (they hella look sci-fi!), but they have the downside of difficulty with looking around you, and have more difficulty with accelerating than a normal or normal electric bicycle. However, the velomobile would also be more energy efficient with speeds above 25 km/hr, due to less air friction. I think they'd be especially suitable for longer distances.

Check out the CityQ Car-eBike if your lookin for a fully enclosed option - it's a 4-wheeler with doors that's being made in Norway and should be available soon.
