Dude, an eight grader with a basic lesson on the holocaust could make the connection to current political events. The people in charge aren't knowledge deficient, they want the genocide endpoint with better PR, no personal responsibility, and some money in the bank, and they're getting it because even token political activism threatens personal wellbeing for the masses.
