Something that happened or was uncovered recently anywhere in the world. It doesn't have to have global implications. Just has to be informative in some way.
Post guidelines
Title format
Post title should mirror the news source title.
URL format
Post URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefix
Opinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title.
Country prefix
Country prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) where title is not clear enough from which country the news is coming from.
Rules

Title and associated content has to be in English.
2. No social media posts
Avoid all social media posts. Try searching for a source that has a written article or transcription on the subject.

5. Ad hominem attacks
Any kind of personal attacks are expressly forbidden. If you can't argue your position without attacking a person's character, you already lost the argument.
6. Off-topic tangents
Stay on topic. Keep it relevant.
7. Instance rules may apply
If something is not covered by community rules, but are against lemmy.zip instance rules, they will be enforced.

Literally just finished a wonton noodle with pork lard and charsiew in Malaysia.
I don't know much about Malaysia other than Islam has become the dominant religion and that it has many small language/cultural groups.
If you have a moment. Given my level of ignorance, could you please tell me about it? What do you hate about it? What are your favorite things about Malaysia?
I was in Malaysia a couple of months ago. The country is a mixture of malay, indian, and Chinese ethnic groups. The Malays are the largest group, and most of them are Muslim, so there is respect for Muslim traditions but they are not enforced on everyone.
For example, in stores they sold beer (very expensive) but there were signs saying that Muslims were not to buy it. I don't know if that is enforced in any way.
My Chinese sister-in-law, who is very biased towards China, will admit that Malaysia has the best food in Asia, because of the above-mentioned fusion of cultures. And I can confirm that the food is spectacular!
I took my wife (who has not traveled very much) to Malaysia because it is different enough from Canada to be exotic, but still has enough comforts and is developed enough not to be intimidating. She found it far too hot and humid, but other than that enjoyed it.
