What have been your favorite demos, what demos ran well on Steam Deck, etc

I tried (and loved)

  • Jump Ship that also ran greatly on the Deck. It's a game that mix mechanics from Sea of Thieves and Void Crew, great if you loved them. Can't get enough of a good space coop game :)
  • Herdling same as above. This indie game is about guiding a group of creatures up a mountain.

and today I'll also try Quantum Witch, a narrative adventure in pixel art

I tried jump ship, and it only got about 20fps in the starting area. Tweaking graphical settings didn't really seem to help, so I put it off to try on my PC later.

Does it get better performance later? Or did you find a better setting for it?

If you're talking about the Deck the only thing that comes into mind is that I capped the FPS @ 30 through Steam and used GE Proton 10-4, I don't recall anything else specific, but I can download it again on the Deck if you want me to :)
