That's pretty smart actually. Old school busses are dirt cheap and make a great starting point for a custom RV as well.

I own a skoolie, and I can say that they start out cheap but they're still pretty expensive to keep going. My bus cost me about $4K on eBay but I've had to drop another $16K just on mechanical stuff, and that's not counting any of the costs of converting it to a motorhome proper. For bonus points, they're also very difficult to register and insure and a lot of parks and campgrounds don't accept them. Making a bus into a melon hauler is a much more practical idea.
